Near the end of the summer, the band now known as Eliot Fitzgerald caught their first break. Cody Kimmel got in contact with Grammy winner Bruce Carroll, who after hearing some scratch tracks of his, decided he wanted to help Cody record an EP. In mid-September on a Sunday morning, Cody jumped in his 96' Jeep Cherokee and drove to Memphis, Trey meeting him out there on Wednesday. With the help of engineer and co-producer Kerry Kernan and three fantastic local musicians the band came out with a five song EP in only a week's time. The EP is named Icarus the Philistine and will be released in January of 2007.
Eliot Fitzgerald is a band that believes that music should have integrity, that music is more than just art, it's a catalyst for change. Their hope is that listeners will be able to find comfort in the honest and probing lyrics of Cody Kimmel and be reassured that we all screw up, every one of us, and God loves us anyway.
